This course helps a merit badge counselor understand his job as a coach and counselor, who provides realistic learning experiences to a boy in his study of a merit badge subject. This training is typically done at the District level.

More information is available on the District's Website.

NEW LEADER ESSENTIALS

Designed for all volunteers, this course provides the basics of the Scouting program, introduces age appropriateness, and covers Scouting's values and methods. This training is the foundation for all other BSA training, and is for all leaders in all programs.

ROUNDTABLE

Roundtables are monthly informational meetings run in each district. They provide all leaders with information and ideas for the next month's theme, program helps, changes in the Scouting program and details on upcoming events as well as activities, games and hints to be used in upcoming meetings.  Our Temescal District Roundtables are usually held the second Wednesday of the month at the LDS Church on Lincoln in Corona at 7:30 p.m.

SAFE SWIM DEFENSE

Before a BSA group may engage in swimming activities of any kind, a minimum of one adult leader must complete Safe Swim Defense training, have a commitment card with them, and agree to use the eight defenses in this plan.

Safe Swim Defense is usually offered at district Roundtables during May or June.

Training is also available online via the Council's Website.

SAFETY AFLOAT

Safely Afloat has been developed to promote boating and boating safety and to set standards for safe unit activity afloat. Before a BSA group may engage in an excursion, expedition, or tip on the water (canoe, raft, sailboat, motorboat, rowboat, tube, or other craft), adult leaders for such activity must complete "Safety Afloat Training," have a commitment card with them, and be dedicated to full compliance with all nine points of Safety Afloat.

Safety Afloat is usually offered at district Roundtables during May or June.

Training is also available online via the Council's Website.

WOOD BADGE - Advanced Leadership Skills

Wood Badge presents participants with the skills they need to be effective leaders at all levels of the Scouting program: Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing and Varsity. Wood Badge offers participants the tools to lead, as well as the opportunity to practice leadership, all within the natural setting of Camp Emerson.

More information is available on the Council's Website.

This video offering, presented by a qualified facilitator, is designed to give all leaders who work with youth an overview of how to recognize, report, and avoid child abuse situations in the Boy Scouts of America. Youth Protection Training is required when obtaining a tour permit.

Youth Protection Training is available at most Roundtables, and at the council offices.
